If you’re curious about the average salary of digital marketers in India then this post will provide useful information. Due to the huge demand in the market, digital marketing jobs also pay freshers well. For instance, a digital marketing manager typically earns INR 9,80,000 annually. Of course, there are exceptions where certain small-scale agencies and startups pay the digital marketer lesser than the average salary range.

In case you’re researching about this profession, another post I have written can help you learn about digital marketing.

In this post you will find the salary range corresponding to your designation within an organization. My aim is to help you negotiate your salary better with the employer when you are offered a digital marketing job. Consider these as the average salary benchmarks of a digital marketer at most ecommerce companies, multinationals and good digital marketing agencies.

Experience matters

Work experience is the key differentiation for digital marketers which causes different salaries at the same designation. Also, the quality of work experience matters a lot. Digital marketers who have had more experience working in ecommerce companies would typically be offered a higher pay than those who come from an agency background.

The number of years of experience you hold as a digital marketer has a direct impact on the salary you would earn at any particular designation. A seasoned digital marketer with 8-10 years of experience can earn much better than many others who hold the same number of experience in other fields such as manufacturing, PR, project management etc.

Specialization pays

Each digital marketer specializes in different aspect of digital marketing. And each aspect can have varying impact on the salary you earn as a digital marketer. Digital marketing professionals who are adept at paid media such as Google Adwords and Facebook Advertising typically earn more than digital marketers who have had more experience in domains such as Search Engine Optimization or Content marketing.

While a digital marketer is expected to know about all the components of digital marketing, they usually specialize on any one or two aspects. For example, using web analytic tools such as Google Analytics is something every digital marketer should know. However, Google Analytics is a tool where digital marketers can have varying depths of knowledge because it is quite a comprehensive data analytic platform. Those who are extremely proficient at Google Analytics can run complex tests and retrieve much higher quality data than a digital marketer who only has its working knowledge.

This is an article that tells you how you can become a digital marketing expert by yourself. I highly recommend reading it if you are interested in building a career in this field.
